The History of Grace Church
In March 1966 the late Rev. Franklin Jones and his family of five came to Houston to assume the pastorate of Mt. Houston Pentecostal Church. There were twenty-one voting members at that time. Over the years the Lord smiled upon the growing congregation and the Jones family.
Many great things took place at the location on Mt. Houston Road, and as the church grew, so did the pastoral demands. In March 1985 the church family voted to have Brett and Gizelle Jones come to serve as Associate Pastor. This proved to be a key move for the church and great growth followed, including a merger in 1989 with the congregation of Faith Tabernacle. This congregation and their pastor, the late Rev. Forrest Ford, were meeting at this present location.
Then in March 1995 the congregation voted to have Scott and Melanie Jones to come alongside and partner with Brett and Gizelle as pastors. A team concept was born and God honored the move. Growth and revival has been constant.
In February 2003 construction on our current worship center and office complex was completed. We've already maximized our capacity and are excited about our future growth and construction.
On Father's Day 2008 Grace Church fulfilled the dream of becoming "One Church, Many Locations" by launching Grace Church Garden Oaks. In February 2012 we saw the launch of The 429, our third campus, and in June of 2012 we expanded to four campuses with the addition of Grace Church Liberty. We are one church, many locations, reaching Houston and beyond (Humble, Houston-Garden Oaks, and Liberty). With our campus additions and online services, we offer twelve weekly services to accommodate the more than 6,000 in weekly attendance.
We honor the legacy and history of Grace Church, and we are excited about the future that God has for us.
"There is no place, like this place, near this place, so this must be the place."
Bishop Franklin Jones
